This week, the New York State Assembly and State Senate overwhelmingly approved a motion to extend consumers’ rights to buy, sell, share or give away the tickets they purchase...when, where and how they choose. The motion was originally passed last July when New York became the first state to pass a ban on paperless tickets. This week, following two years of negotiations between Internet platforms and rights owners, 29 participants have signed an EU Memorandum of Understanding on the sale of counterfeit goods over the Internet. eBay, Amazon, LVMH, L\'Oréal, Adidas and other prominent brands agreed on a set of cooperative best practice principles. And while it’s touted as a way to protect fans, this new system will actually limit fans’ rights, including the right to give away or sell your tickets online and on your own terms.
